St. Louis, MO 63118
The Stable might take its name from its previous life as actual stables, but the key here is that those stables belonged to the Lemp brewery. This new bar/restaurant is a shrine to great beer. There are two dozen brews on tap, most of which you wont find on draft or in bottles at other area bars. The list of bottled brew is as extensive as a fine restaurants wine list. (In addition, the Stable soon will be brewing its own beer and distilling its own spirits.) The menu features food that is beer-friendly: pizzas, sandwiches and shared appetizers. The pizzas are good, with a soft but still chewy crust. Here, sandwiches are known as grinders and include several loose-meat selections.
