Flo McGarrell, an artist and graduate of Crossroads College Prep
, was killed in Tuesday's earthquake in Haiti. He lived in Jacmel and specialized in agrisculpture, sculpture constructed from organic material and plants.
After leaving St. Louis, McGarrell studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In Jacmel, he directed a nonprofit arts center called FOSAJ
. In the summers, he would travel to Newbury, Vermont.
