In Legal Marketing 101, idealistic young law students learn that if you are going advertise, you need a hook. St. Louis lawyer Charles "Ed" Brown found his hook in the form of a patch. You can't miss Brown; his mug is plastered on billboards and buses throughout the city -- and he is wearing a black eye patch. The ads are so effective that he even identifies himself as "the guy with the patch." However, you won't find him practicing admiralty law. Instead, he concentrates in the areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, traffic and criminal defense.
