Remember Sam the butcher from TV's Brady Bunch? He always put a little something extra in the bag for Alice. South St. Louis has its own version of the local butcher at Le Grand's Tom Boy and Catering. Behind an old-fashioned meat counter, the owners are ready to carve a 3-inch sirloin or slice up a pound of Boar's Head salami for customers. These butchers are quick, congenial and Rams-friendly. In South City neighborhoods, umpteen churches ask local businesses for charity donations on a daily basis. Rarely do the butchers at Le Grand's refuse. These guys are so warm and fuzzy that they even keep a special parking spot with these words painted on the asphalt: For Mom.
