OK, maybe there's not a whole lot of competition for the designation of the "best" St. Louis version of this Northeastern specialty, which is served at Spencer's Kirkwood Grill in a form that resembles unsweetened pancakes laced with bits of mystery meat and topped, if you choose, with a white gravy. It's hearty and filling, and, best of all, Spencer's is a timeless diner where they treat you like a regular even if you've never set foot in the place before.
