Best Mexican Market

Carnicería Latino Americana

In searching for Mexican market perfection, one of the most important attributes is product density. But it's not only the quantity of products being shown off that's relevant, it's the intense and somewhat chaotic mélange of color displayed. At a quick glance, nothing should be clearly decipherable. There should be a mix of dried goods, a small select variety of fresh produce including at least three different kinds of chili peppers, plus tomatillos, jicamas and limes and your standard mix of pottery and tortilleros (the containers used to keep tortillas warm). And, if you're really lucky, an in-house Western Union. All of these criteria can be met with a visit to Carnicería Latino Americano. Open daily from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., La Carnicería not only provides a perfect blend of these characteristics but announces its presence in this rapidly growing Latino neighborhood with a fantastic mural typical of Mexican culture and a welcome update to the once-faltering Cherokee district. One can only hope this is a sign of things to come.
