To survive as a vegetarian deli in this meat-centric city is an accomplishment in itself; that the Eternity Vegetarian Deli and Juice Bar manages to thrive speaks volumes to the quality of food served up at this Central West End emporium. Whether you eat your meal on-site or take cartons home, Eternity never fails to satisfy. Barbecue, gyros, fish fillets, hot dogs, hoagies and -- newest on the menu -- the Garvey Burger amply demonstrate the many tasty permutations of nonmeat protein sources, drawing on flavors from the Caribbean, Middle East and Africa. Everything's made with the freshest vegetables, fruits and grains, dishes here are seasoned with herbs and spices (no salt, not even on the tables) and are free from additives, preservatives, artificial colors and flavors. Offerings in the deli case vary daily, but often include greens, potato salad, carrot supreme and other concoctions that might be new to your palate but are sure to become old favorites. The deli is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. till 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday till 11.
