The Gateway Arch www.stlouisarch.com
Sometimes the obvious is just, well, obvious. As magnificent a landmark as the Arch may be, as imposing a piece of architecture and design, who really needs another breathtaking view of it sweeping over the skyline, glinting in the rising sun or brightly lit in the moonlight? Yeah, yeah, the Arch already. But when was the last time you troubled yourself to look down from high up inside it? There's a whole city beneath the Arch to look at: from Busch Stadium and the old courthouse to the paltry cluster of downtown skyscrapers to Grand Boulevard to the entire metro area stretching all the way to the Missouri River in the distance. The ride to the top costs $9 for adults, $5 for kids aged thirteen to sixteen, and $3 for those aged three to twelve. The Arch is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Labor Day and Memorial Day, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer.
