We only saw Meghan Maguire in two plays this season. Both were by the same author (George F. Walker) and staged by the same troupe (Muddy Waters). One production (Zastrozzi: The Master of Discipline
) was very bad; the other (Adult Entertainment
) was very good. But the constant in both shows was Maguire. She's a pro who brings a seeming natural ease to both period style and contemporary drama. She also knows what not to bring to a performance: She never indicates, never anticipates. You don't catch her "acting." One hopes that in time she'll broaden her swath beyond Walker and even Muddy Waters and share her gifts with some of the other local companies. The very mention of her name is enough to make us drop whatever we're doing and go see the play she's in.
