Donut Drive-In
A 1950s-era marquee points to the low-slung, square white building at the intersection of Chippewa Street and Watson Road. Inside Donut Drive-In, Sharon hands a little girl a doughnut to sample. The girl presses her face to the store's two glass cases, which are filled with an array of delicacies. Everything's made from scratch, Sharon says. Those -- she points to the left side, which features a preternaturally gorgeous marbled chocolate creation -- are the cake doughnuts. The fried pastries -- plain, chocolate glazed, sprinkles, cinnamon twist and cherry jelly-filled (to name only a few) -- are on the right. Like the little girl, we want to try them all.
