Daniel Raedeke: Always Almost New

For this summer show, the second in the Kranzberg St. Louis Exhibition Series at Laumeier Sculpture Park, Raedeke went all-out, exploring new media and pushing his concept of art-as-consumable-as-art to a new level. There were paintings, sculptures and digital animations, all based on a cast of new characters Raedeke introduced for our pleasure: eerO, woggy, landscapy, phasO and shopRs -- all rendered in candy-cool colors and morphing, spinning, even breakdancing with glee. Always Almost New brilliantly explored synergy in contemporary art and in commercial culture. It was fully realized, beautifully organized and sheer joy to view.
