Don't be confused by the "fine dining" appellation. This is a classic "bar bar" in a neighborhood that goes from Grand (Center) to Gaza Strip in the space of about three city blocks. Gary's resides on the border of this conundrum and thus draws in as interesting a post-show crowd as can be found in Middle America. All of which combines to make Gary's a hot, hot bar. Hot with tension. Hot with liquor. Hot with live music that pays homage to Miles and the cronies of yesteryear. Many would establish their chief criterion for a top-shelf neighborhood bar that it be a place that feels like your living room. If you want to do that, then drink in your living room.
