The Gentleman Callers
Sometimes we feel like we ought to toss out all these genre categories and just give bands awards for "Best Ass-Kicking Music" and "Now That's What We Call Hair." It's always a bit of a bummer to lump the bands together, and we're afraid that someday we'll have categories like "Best Fourth Wave Rock Steady Group With Stax Influences" and so forth. So we're calling the Gentleman Callers the best garage band in St. Louis, and then we're going to stop for the day. The Farfisa of Mick Young gets us doing the hippy-hippy shake while wearing purple shades and a big pre-punk smile, and we'd rather listen to the band rock than argue about genres.
