Erin Bode

Story of the Year may have continued to win the hearts of Warped Tour denizens this past summer, but chanteuse Erin Bode is our true breakout star. Nine months after she released Don't Take Your Time -- a jazzed-up mix of pop songs, musical numbers and standards -- an article in the Wall Street Journal waxed enthusiastic about her talents and helped cement her reputation as a fresh face in the genre. She augmented her profile by appearing at the Kennedy Center's "A New America: The 1940s and the Arts" festival in Washington, D.C., while continuing to gig around town at places like Remy's Kitchen and Wine Bar, Cyrano's and Finale. But for the Minnesota native with a voice somewhere between Jonatha Brooke and Eva Cassidy, the increased attention simply magnified what many around the world -- including Italy, where she was when the WSJ kudos emerged -- already knew: Norah Jones had better watch her back, because Erin Bode is poised to take the jazz world by storm.
