If there was a word that meant "the opposite of metrosexual," that word would describe the Charlack Pub. It's a smoky, unpretentious joint where you can play pool and listen to REO Speedwagon, the kind of place you can show up at by yourself and make friends. Best of all, they open at 6 a.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays. They're closed Sunday, which is fine by us, because on Sunday respectable drinkers get their drink on at home.

This place rocks. Bar at one end, the door at the other. In between you'll find a pool table, tables and chairs and a couple of support beams that I'm prone to run into now and then.

Music? Do you like it loud, good and right in front of you? Then this is your place. The band that they had playing last Saturday (12/11/10)was jaw-droppingly good. I'm 50 years old and have been in a few clubs and bars around town so when I tell you that Charlacks rates at the top, believe me.

No, there isn't a whole lot of room and no, they don't serve food from the bar. This is a bar for bikers and those who like to party. The prices are great. Bring a $20 bill and you'll leave happy. Bring $50 and you'll leave a changed person.

Don't bring your colors and don't bring an attitude. Have a good time and try not to get in the way of the people shooting pool. Check it out. Oh, and watch out for the cops who like to hang out in the parking lot. Make sure you stop at the traffic light at the corner or else...

Charlack pub is not just your ordinary biker bar...... it is also the best kept secret for live music in st. louis. only the best of the best play there. I love the open mic jam nights....it gives an opportunity for local musicians to unite and play what they love...(some of them famous). The live bands on fri and sat nights are amazing to say the least. The drinks are stiff and reasonably priced. It is kind of a small place but there is seating outside with secure parking. When they BBQ (seems like every wed night) it is to die for. Mmm mmmmm good! If you like great music and good people..... CHARLACK PUB IS WHERE TO BE!!!!
