Best Book Store (Chain) St. Louis 2006 - Borders - CLOSED
Readers' Choice: Borders
The Brentwood Borders has everything you'd expect from a major chain: ambient lighting, unobtrusive music, a coffeeshop, tables of corporate-selected reading lists. But it doesn't stop there. There's a T-Mobile Hot Spot, book signings, musical performances, a Tuesday Book Club and a fancy "Title Sleuth" computer kiosk. Those are just the trappings. The real reason this Borders wins us over is that it has the best selection of any chain out there. A perusal of the huge, purple-carpeted children's section (with its own Tuesday and Friday story-time events) turns up everything from Goodnight Moon to Pirateology. The store also passes our demanding Obscure Writer Test in both poetry and fiction. Not only is our favorite foreign novelist present, but present with multiple copies of multiple titles! Spiffy from a recent renovation, the Brentwood Borders assures that you'll always find what you're looking for.
