A comedy club is as good as the talent it books. With Howard Stern Show regular Jim Florentine, Bob and Tom favorite Mike Birbiglia, Last Comic Standing winner John Heffron and SNL vet Kevin Nealon treading its brick-backed stage, the 'Bone is St. Louis' hot standup spot. It sure doesn't hurt that the room feels cozy but not overcrowded, the drink prices are reasonable, and admission often includes access to the Backstreet Jazz & Blues club next door. The chain carries a legacy: Twenty-five-plus years of producing future national headliners, with this location contributing Cedric the Entertainer and Kathleen Madigan. And if the talent pool at Matt Behren's Tuesday open-mic nights are any indication, plenty more Lou-based laugh machines are on their own way up.
