Velvet

Back in June, subscribers to Velvet's mailing list received an e-mail alerting them to the fact that the shuttered, once-legendary hot spot was for sale for $100,000—or at least the sound and lights, booths, and other items from the interior of the club were available for purchase. The e-mail was kinda heartbreaking, but no one could ever really sell Velvet. No one could possibly auction off our recollections of the nights when internationally renowned DJs spun and there was a line down Washington Avenue, the nights we shook it on the platform in the middle of the dance floor, the New Year's Eves that provided enough party to last an entire year. Now those memories will have to last a lifetime. So long, Velvet, and thanks for the memories. Washington Avenue just ain't the same without you.
