Best Margarita St. Louis 2006 - Prickly Pear Margarita

In the name of journalistic integrity, we've conducted exhaustive research on the topic of Margarita Superiority. (We'd call it legwork, except it mostly involves planting our ass on a barstool for a long round of, um, "investigative reporting.") While we give major props to Pueblo Solis' perenially tasty Grand Marnier 'rita and Atomic Cowboy's worth-every-penny $10 version (hint: there is a lot of Patr?n in there), the majorest props belong to Mirasol's prickly pear marg. We've been crushing on Mirasol's pan-Latin cuisine since day one, and the prickly pear margarita is our favorite tipple on a uniformly tempting drink menu. Mirasol's bartenders combine excellent tequila (Sauza Hornitos Reposado), Cointreau, fresh lime juice and prickly pear pur?e. The result is a blush-pink cocktail that partners perfectly with everything from smoky pulled-duck taquitos to delicate tuna ceviche to spicy-salty pepitas. A prickly pear margarita, it should be noted, also partners perfectly with...another prickly pear margarita.
