When the RFT's editorial department took its collective summer break this year (specially trained robots run the show for a few months — no big deal), we ventured away to the Miniature Golf Capital of the Universe, a.k.a. South Carolina. So many elaborately landscaped courses did we play that we developed calluses — we think it was from the putter, though our orthopedist tells us that repeatedly lifting fruity cocktails on the beach can cause similar build-up. Anyhoo, now that we're back at work, when we get the itch to putt-putt we head directly to the beautiful, bucolic wilds of Ellisville and the Infield Fun Center. This eighteen-hole course has all the best mini-golf attributes we grew to love and expect on our summer vacation: water features, a cave, pretty plantings and shade — cool, wonderful shade. Even better, a round here costs far less than they pinch you for in South Carolina — only $6 per person.
