Some of the treasures in the South County Antique Mall stretch the meaning of the word "antique" completely out of shape — but where else can you find a trivet embossed with the psychedelic Laugh-In catchphrase "Here Comes the Judge" next to an authentically Edwardian walking dress with hand-sewn French seams? Plus, every other booth in this cornucopia of "old stuff" (a more accurate term than "antique") seems to be selling a Griesedieck Bros. beer cooler. (OK, doing the math in this mall of 650 dealers, that would equal 325 of these indigenous brewery artifacts, when we actually only spied 4: But hell, that's still the most we've ever seen under one roof.) If you can't find something worth taking home with you here, you're not trying. There's something from every era to fit all pocketbooks and levels of taste, from kidney-shaped ashtrays to Art Deco Czech vases to Eastlake rocking chairs to — well, to darling little blue Smurfs.
