These days the best blues in town can be found in the so-called South Broadway triangle, the few-block stretch where Broadway angles its way southeastward to usurp Fourth Street. And BB's remains the anchor of the area, presenting a mix of touring acts and local and regional performers seven nights a week. Not content to rest on its laurels, the club recently completed a major remodeling project, adding a second floor inside and a balcony outside that effectively doubles its capacity, not to mention other, less immediately obvious improvements in sound, lighting and behind the scenes. The music comes first at BB's, and the number of blues players who can be found just hanging out here even when they're not working is a clear indicator of the genuine affection that many in the music community feel for the room and the people who run it.
