City Diner's rich, creamy, thick (but not too thick) hand-dipped milkshakes prove that when life sucks, all you need is a straw. To learn what flavors are available, just ask your server. Syrups can range from hazelnut, Irish cream and caramel to raspberry, watermelon and orange. Stick with classic vanilla, chocolate or strawberry, or step outside your safety zone and have something different. Blend some real peanut butter or fresh bananas with chocolate ice cream, or try something more daring, like a blueberry-chocolate-Oreo combination — it may look like cement but could very well be used to pave the stairway to milkshake heaven. If you're feeling extra-adventurous, go for the Five Dollar Shake, which includes a shot of your choice of liquor. Saucy! Want some fries with that?
