All music festivals are certainly not created equal; nor are all music festival locations. On Wednesday evenings during the summertime, the Whitaker Music Festival allows St. Louisans to picnic on the beautiful grounds of the Missouri Botanical Garden while listening to live music. The free summer festival, funded by the Whitaker Foundation, offers up a wide variety, including concerts by performers like Jeremy Davenport, Peter Mayer and Gumbohead. Bring along good eats, a bottle or three of wine and a blanket. (And don't forget your corkscrew!) Garden staffers are refreshingly lax about where you sit and how long you stay, which makes this fest perfect for wiling away a lazy, hazy summer night.
