Vandalyzm

Readers' Choice: Nelly

Vandalyzm kicked off the year by releasing his debut full-length album Megatron Majorz. He then proceeded to drop "Ol' Girl," the catchiest local single of 2008, kick it with underground icons like 9th Wonder and Little Brother and pack nearly every venue in town from the Old Rock House to the Gramophone. He even smoked the 2008 RFT Music Showcase, rocking a rendition of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" on the main stage. For 2009, he has EPs in the works with genius LA producer Flying Lotus and Khrysis of the Hall of Justus, as well as plans for another full-length album featuring his right-hand man Gotta Be Karim. If he keeps it up, the rapper/producer could very well be back in next year's Best Of issue — as Best Local Act Gone National.
