Best Liquor Store St. Louis 2008 - Friar Tuck
OK, so Friar Tuck is in a strip mall. Yes, there's an Applebee's and an Ace Hardware. But look beyond that and you'll find a selection of beer, wine and spirits that ranges from old standards (Bud Light, Schlafly) to hard-to-find (Hite Korean beer, Connemara whiskey). With four locations in Illinois, Friar Tuck has already established itself as the place to go when seeking more than just convenience store choices. The Crestwood location opened in late May. Its biggest seller so far is the "Mix a Six" deal, which allows customers to choose six beers for $8.99. "It's a good way to try new things without hurting your wallet," general manager Jim McAvoy says. Impress your friends. Bring home something unusual — or, as we overheard one customer suggest, "Get the cheap shit." Whatever your adult beverage needs, Friar Tuck's got it.
