KDHX's Midwest Mayhem at the City Museum

Civic pride is a funny thing — you can be down on this town one day and then have a twelve-car pileup of love for the Lou the next. The latter was the case at this year's Midwest Mayhem, the early-summer party thrown by community radio station KDHX (88.1 FM) at the City Museum. A dozen fantastic local bands playing on behalf of cultural touchstone in the city's carnivalesque wonderland? Sign us up! This year featured a great cross section of local talent, from the acoustic folk of Rough Shop to the feel-good reggae of Dub Kitchen to the electric currents of So Many Dynamos. The event offered music fans and bands alike a chance to forget about cliques, scenes and imaginary boundary lines and simply enjoy the music.
