Best Recording Studio Engineer - 2008
As home recording becomes more and more accessible and affordable for musicians, it begins to become apparent that the value of hiring an experienced studio engineer has less to do with expensive gear and more to do with his or her ability to bring out the best in a band and offer an environment that breeds creativity and exploration. Jason McEntire does just that at his Sawhorse Recording Studio in south city. Over the past few years, McEntire's studio has churned out an impressive array of releases by national artists such as Ludo, Ha Ha Tonka and Son Volt, while still remaining affordable enough to offer a full-fledged professional studio experience to local bands like Jon Hardy and the Public, the Incurables and the Feed — all of whom have made recordings that truly stand up without having to look any further than their own back yard.
All the members of 3JC would like to congratulate Jason of Sawhorse Studio for this award. We've had the privilege of working with Jason off and on for the past few years and we just finished a session with him a few weeks ago. He's a master at what he does and he has a good ear for what it takes to make a great record. We're looking forward to finishing our 3rd CD with Jason later this year. This is a well-deserved award. ~ Joe K. - 3JC
