New Music Sunday

With its club-ready remixes of bangin' techno and electro, Les Aaron's early-Thursday-morning Love Mix show on KDHX (88.1 FM) appeals to a niche market. But Aaron's venerable New Music Sunday, which airs at 7 p.m. on "The Point" (105.7 FM), has a little something for everyone. In a crisp, jaunty British accent (he's a Brighton, England, native), Aaron informs listeners about what he's digging any given week — which could be import-only UK tracks, respected indie acts swinging through St. Louis or old-school punk and screamo bands. The occasional flashback song (mostly from UK acts of the past two decades) belies Aaron's fifteen-plus years of local radio experience. In fact, he's so well respected that his "Pick of the Week" is repeated on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The end of the weekend is never a happy prospect, but Aaron's upbeat picks and enthusiasm make the impending Monday early wake-up just a little more palatable.
