The blues — the music and the state of mind — can be found all over town, but its true home is downtown on Broadway, just a little bit south of Busch Stadium. Operating in a restored nineteenth-century building that's been (among other things) a boarding house, transient hotel and house of ill repute, BB's Jazz, Blues & Soups anchors the area's so-called blues triangle and serves as a virtual headquarters for local blues fans and musicians, offering food, drink and a mix of touring acts and top local talent seven nights a week. Other joints may jump, but the hardcore blues aficionados, the musicians getting done with gigs and the rest of the late-night crowd always seem to land at BB's.
