Five Guys is a big disappointment. The food is not particularly stellar or different, and it's very expensive for what you get. Feeding two people with fries, burgers, and drinks, cost us ~$25. Save your money and hit up a Steak N' Shake or Johnny Rockets.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Given the general crud on-the-go Americans shove down their gullets, this category should be a sop, the best of an unimpressive bunch. Thankfully, the arrival of Five Guys Burgers and Fries into the St. Louis market negates the need for any apologies. Over the past twenty-plus years, the chain has grown from its original Arlington, Virginia, location to more than 300 stores, thanks to a simple formula: fresh, friendly and efficient. Burgers are made from ground beef that has never been frozen and are grilled to order. The patties are small, so the regular burger comes with two. Add cheese and bacon for a little extra; all the usual fixings (plus a couple of standouts, such as raw jalapeño slices) are free. Though always served well done, the burgers are juicy and flavorful. Oh, and the fries, made from freshly cut potatoes, are topnotch, too.
