Jailhouse Rock
Trenton, Illinois, barely qualifies for Metro East inclusion, but it's closer than Memphis when you need an Elvis fix. Located in a huge former community center in Trenton's tiny downtown (about fifteen miles west of O'Fallon off Highway 50), Jailhouse Rock provides some of the coldest beer in the metro area — and so much more. Need a new pair of Elvis earrings? They have 'em. Friday-night karaoke? Of course. Wedding ceremony conducted by an Elvis impersonator? Covered. When there isn't a blue-suede brouhaha (such as Uncle Jesse's annual Christmas jam) afoot, Jailhouse Rock doubles as a friendly neighborhood bar. Comfortable and relaxed, with great service, free fresh popcorn, iced beer mugs and plenty of conversation that goes beyond whether the King is still alive.

I'm not from Illinois, and I'm not staying much longer, but wherever I go, I plan on returning to visit Jailhouse Rock. Not only are the owners -Susan and Jeff- some of the nicest people I have ever met, but the bar is one of the places I consistantly have a great time at...I love this bar.
