To be fair, clothing from ScholarShop doesn't seem so much used as bequeathed — passed down from a kindly, well-to-do and oh-so-fashionable relative who simply did not have any more room in the closet, darling. Need a tweed topcoat? A satin skirt? A Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, a pristine Cavalli jacket, a Gucci suit that will make everyone at the board meeting go, "Daaang"? You will find designer duds and so much more at this resale boutique (there's another location in Webster Groves, but the shop across Clayton Road from the Galleria is the treasure-trovier of the two). High-design pieces are ridiculously affordable; hit the 'Shop at the right time and you could snap up an Armani jacket for $60. Daily-wear items from known names such as Banana Republic, Ann Taylor and Kenneth Cole Reaction are often priced under $20 (sometimes even under $10). And everything's organized by color, making the "little black dress" easier to find than ever. Need the perfect accent piece for your new-to-you couture? ScholarShop sells handbags, shoes, ties, scarves and jewelry. The best part: ScholarShop is volunteer-run, and all the money goes to the Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis, which offers no-interest college loans and grants to students who could not otherwise afford post-secondary education.
