Since coming out way ahead of the curve and making its venue non-smoking a couple of years ago, Off Broadway has consistently improved in pretty much every way a venue can. Sure, the smoke-free nature of the club makes it inviting to folks who don't want to come home smelling like the inside of one of those cigarette-butt receptacles, but infrastructure improvements, sound-system upgrades, the addition of talented live sound engineers (see Best Live Sound Engineer in the Music section) and diversity of talent have made the south-city club a destination venue for everything from roots-driven rock and twang to trendy indie rock and mid-level emo — all the while keeping a strong focus on the very best in local music.
