Two years after opening, Bobo Noodle House remains the hippest-looking restaurant in St. Louis. Space Architects' design is the rare one that manages to be both of-the-moment and timeless. The light fixtures are the most striking feature: Each is a cylinder from which thin black spokes protrude; attached to the end of each spoke is a sheet of paper on which a phrase in one of dozens of different languages is written. The kitchen is partially open, a "box" framed by bamboo cladding. This bamboo is a warm contrast to the sleek concrete floor and spare, modernist tables and chairs. Flowers on each table add a pop of color. Thanks to high ceilings and tall front windows, Bobo Noodle House feels twice as large as its relatively modest 1,000 square feet.
