Intermissions can be tricky commodities, which may explain why they're being omitted from more and more plays. The break should be long enough to give the viewer an opportunity to digest what has been seen in Act One — but not so long that people begin to forget what they've just seen. We've attended plays that have barely a dozen people in the audience, and the intermission drags on in excess of twenty minutes. By contrast, the intermissions at the Muny in Forest Park appear to be organized by a drill sergeant. In fewer than twenty minutes, a Muny intermission processes thousands of people through lavatories, souvenir shops and refreshment stands — a masterpiece of exactness. No matter the production, intermission at the Muny is a wonder to behold.

And when those fans come on at intermission there is no better place to be!
