Tigers lurk just outside St. Louis, and we're not talking about the Mizzou variety. A little road trip to Ste. Genevieve is worth it for the kids to experience the rescued big cats at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary. The rescued cats — five tigers and a lioness — live in natural habitats designed so that visitors can get within five feet of them. The thrill comes with some important lessons about wildlife conservation. An on-site restaurant features housemade root beer — Fizzy Izzy, named for one of the tigers — and lots of local wine, which Mom and Dad will appreciate after the kids' wildlife encounter.
