Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three

Even before he moved to St. Louis from Louisville, Kentucky, genteel songsmith Pokey LaFarge was a road warrior. But after the February 2010 release of Riverboat Soul — a collection brimming with sepia-toned blues, folk and country signifiers — LaFarge has barely had time to unpack. An August appearance at Rhode Island's prestigious Newport Folk Festival (and being named "Best Discovery" of the event by Spin magazine) wasn't even the highlight of his whirlwind year. LaFarge and bandmates Adam Hoskins, Joey Glynn and Ryan Koenig have been on several tours of the UK, were well received at festivals in Ireland, Scotland and Denmark and garnered glowing reviews and press from multiple European publications. LaFarge and Co.'s far-and-wide travels are showing the rest of the world that Americana is a universal language.

Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three is a band St. Louis should be enormously proud of. They do a wonderful family show and are trained musicians. Pokey's voice is incredible.
