The Record Sto'

Doug Morgan's velvet pipes make him sound like he should be on late at night, coaxing the heartbroken through their pain. But Morgan's Thursday 2 p.m. slot on KDHX (88.1 FM) is the perfect aperitif for the twilight of the workweek. The Record Sto' focuses on deep cuts from hip-hop greats (De La Soul, Nas), classic rock icons (ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix), funk legends (Bobby Womack, the Meters), alt-rock influences (Cocteau Twins, Jesus and Mary Chain) soul crooners (Eli "Paperboy" Reed, Paul Weller) and pure popsters (XTC, New Pornographers). Like any good radio DJ, Morgan blends disparate sounds with skill and grace. In fact, you could say the two-hour trip through eras and genres is like browsing through the racks at a fantastic, um, Record Sto'.
