Katie's Pizzeria
Served on skateboard-size platters, the salads at Katie's Pizzeria are a little exotic (and a little overwhelming). Even the molto semplice insalata mista brings more than enough fresh greens for two; the fried artichoke salad or the grilled tuna niçoise salad could make you forget all about the café's acclaimed pizzas. Katie's makes brilliant use of shaved fennel and never oversoaks the greens in its (simple but inspired) dressings (the mustard balsamic vinaigrette should be patented), and the ample range of flavors, textures and aromas of any of the restaurant's seven house salads makes for a Mediterranean banquet on a single plate.
