Make a girl blush, why don’t ya? Thanks on behalf of Franco for the honor, “Best Service in a Restaurant.” Hospitality is a craft unto itself and depends upon the entire staff. It’s everyone at Franco that makes the experience there memorable. The food’s easy to be enthusiastic about: Chris Williams, Michael Hood, and executive chef Matt Abeshouse put out some of the sexiest food I’ve ever had; TJ Vytlacil’s cocktails are worldclass; Christopher O’Connor must be the hardest working manager around; and every waiter is passionate about providing the best service possible. The owner, the indomitable Tom Schmidt, puts in long hours and lots of heart, and is a prince of a boss if ever there was one. Unfortunately, you won’t see me much at Franco these days: I moved to Colorado last month. But rest assured that whenever you go, you’ll be treated to St. Louis’ very best.

Franco
When you have the best server in St. Louis, it gives you a leg up on the competition for Best Service in a Restaurant. That server is 28-year-old Angela Raines. If she doesn't know Franco's French-bistro dishes as well as the restaurant's chef knows them, then she must be no more than a whisker short. (All the more remarkable considering that she herself adheres to a raw-food diet.) To that intelligence you can add a tableside manner that is gracious, engaging and funny but never falsely fawning. Should you end up with a different server, don't fret. Owner Tom Schmidt might not have the biggest staff in town, but he runs an efficient ship. Schmidt himself often acts as a runner or busser — a sure sign of a restaurant that counts the diner first.
