KMOV-TV (Channel 4)

Why do we like KMOV-TV (Channel 4)? Because the station hasn't forgotten its roots. While other St. Louis channels trim local content for syndicated shows and reruns, KMOV offers five hours of local programming Monday through Friday. That's two hours of morning news, an hour of Great Day St. Louis mid-morning, the noon news and the conventional 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. Speaking of news, KMOV gets it right. Led by investigative reporter Craig Cheatham, Channel 4 actually practices some real journalism instead of simply following the police scanner to the latest shooting or house fire. But perhaps the biggest reason we love KMOV is the guilty pleasure of watching St. Louis Country (line dancing broadcast from Wild Country, a bar in Collinsville, Illinois). Now, that's local television at its finest.

on TV this morning the men & women were eating chocolate cookies that one of them said was so easy to make. One of the guys said they are great to put small pretsels in the cookie also. They said recipe is on your page, but I can't find it.

Who writes this stuff? Do they watch TV? Channels 2 and 11 (yes we all know they're the same station now) have added 12 hours a week of local news in the last couple of years, and they were already doing tons more than anyone else. Your reference to "trimming local content for syndicated shows" is just plain inaccurate. If you're going to congratulate someone for "practicing real journalism" why don't you practice a little yourself first.
