Located in an unassuming hideaway near a strip mall on Delmar Boulevard, Stan's Pawn Shop is about as fancy as it looks — which is to say, not at all. With A Tribe Called Quest blasting overhead, a clerk who just might be wearing a Harley-Davidson graphic T-shirt under his white button-down will help you navigate a selection of jewelry that looks like it contains every ring ever found on the bottom of the ocean. The store's merchandise changes considerably every day: While some days it seems empty, on others, it's packed with tool sets, electric guitars, sound systems and lawn mowers. If Stan's people don't have what you want, they'll tell you where to find it. They're rarely wrong.
