Best Thrift Store - 2011
Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store
Bargain shoppers know the feeling: the rush that comes after finding something totally freakin' sweet and unique for a mere fraction of the regular asking price. And so what if it's a little bit used? That just means it's already broken in — and waiting for a second life. The folks at Society of St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores make it easier than ever to achieve cheapo consumer euphoria, and while one branch of their thrift stores closed last year, a new one has sprung up in its place. Located down South Kingshighway in a semi-hidden plaza, it still feels like the store is a bit of a secret even though it's been open since December 2010. The roomy space is impeccably organized and often sparsely populated. Most of the clothing is actually organized by size, and there's always plenty of cool old furniture to peruse. In between, there are books, bric-a-brac galore and much, much more. So go ahead — get that frugal blood pumpin'.
I volunteer at this store in the book department. Unlike other thrift stores, we organize for easier selection. We also sell home and cooking and other magazines at great prices. The volunteers are from all walks of life, te staff friendly and helpful.New items go out daily. There are some amazing bargains.
I work here and this is a great place to work and I have fun with my co workers.I get to meet a lot of people. I'm glad to be part of this family.
I volunteer at this store and it is AWESOME! Theres a lot of great deals and tons of brand name items in wonderful condition! The staff is very nice and fun to be around! I would recommend this store to everyone! (:
I volunteer at this location and the staff and other volunteers are amazing. I love going up to this store at least twice a week to volunteer. It is such a good organization and everyone is so friendly. Also, it doesn't hurt to find great deals on Hollister, American Eagle, lucky, pink and other name brands. I LOVE THIS STORE!
I have shopped at this store many times. There are great deals and I found many great name brand items that were in excellent condition. The management and staff are very helpful and are willing to go the extra step to make me satisfied. I will be returning to this store to continue shopping. I give this store a A+ and would recommend everyone to at least give this store a try you will be impressed.
What's great about this place is that it only accepts donations that are in good repair (no rips, stains, excessive wear, and it can't be broken or torn in any way). They are even strigent about pet hair, so no allergy concerns...I am allergic to cat dander. That means that they only have GOOD used items for sale at great prices. I furnished half my apartment with items found there. The management and the staff were great, too.
