You can count on three things at any Dave Bailey restaurant (Baileys' Chocolate Bar, Rooster, Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar): good food, an impressive array of adult beverages and a very distinctive look. One of Bailey's latest ventures, the upscale burgerteria Baileys' Range, is no different. With his sister-in-law, Brynne Rinderknecht, a Chicago-based interior designer, Bailey built a dining space that's as visually arresting as it is practical. On the spacious main floor — there's also a mezzanine level — a "wall" of vintage multicolored framed mirrors separates the main dining room from the kitchen. This provides the appeal of an open kitchen while keeping its hubbub at bay. (An especially good thing when you take into account that the kitchen serves as the commissary for all of Bailey's restaurants.) A long communal dining table dominates the dining room. Above this dangle the restaurant's most striking feature: light fixtures installed inside large, antique milk jugs, a smart reclaiming of an easily forgotten relic and a clever nod to the restaurant's housemade ice cream and milkshakes. You can order those shakes with booze, BTW, or you can enjoy one of several dozen local craft beers on tap, which along with the excellent burgers and fries, ensures that Baileys' Range completes the trinity of its owner's signature style.
