Matt Ricehouse

Last month Matt Ricehouse earned his first loss since turning pro in a bout with Bobby Green in San Diego. Though it tarnished his till-then-undefeated professional record, the six wins he currently claims surely outweigh that recent setback — especially considering that his most notable victory came at the expense of fighter Ryan Couture, son of mixed-martial arts all-star Randy Couture. Hailing from St. Paul, a city in St. Charles County, Ricehouse holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has trained with St. Louis MMA and St. Louis-based gym Team Rodrigo Vaghi. Fighting in the lightweight class, Ricehouse clocks in at 5'11, 155 pounds, the rest of him a mop of curly hair and biting spirit. Prior to his 2010 signing with Strikeforce, he trained and fought as an amateur for four years, and held titles as Cage Championships Lightweight Champion, Missouri State Lightweight Champion and Golden Gloves Champion in the novice division. At press time Ricehouse's next opponent in the octagon hadn't been announced, but for the 25-year-old fighter, time, and an established string of victories, seem to be on his side.
