Heman Park
If you think professional tennis champion Arthur Ashe is the only black man in St. Louis to ever pick up a racket, head on over to University City's Heman Park. Known to attract some of the most diverse players in town, these eight free courts (four of them lighted) also play host to some of the most competitive tennis in the region. As this "Best Of" issue was being put to bed, all eight courts were undergoing a resurfacing (scheduled to be completed by the end of September), effectively making the Heman Park courts the newest in town as well.
