There are only a few tiny dive bar experiences in the Central West End, and Rosie's Place is almost certainly the diviest. The bathrooms are only the second worst in St. Louis (first being the ladies' room at CBGB's, indubitably), the drinks are cheap, and it has none of the snooty entitlement found at most bars in that zip code. The bartender, an ex-UFC fighter, can drink an entire 12-oz bottle of Budweiser in three seconds without batting an eyelash, so you know the clientele are at Rosie's for the love of the sauce, not to see and be seen. Bar Louie patrons and drunk SLU students need not apply. Read more about this St. Louis bar or club >>
http://www.roxysstripclub.com The metro-east outskirts of St. Louis are hardly lacking in topless fare. And Roxy's, a Brooklyn, Illinois, joint that can be equal parts classy and sleazy depending on the night, isn't lacking in anything. The truth is that the area's other strip clubs -- many of them owned by Roxy's parent company, VCG Holding Corp. -- might offer more polished women or fewer rumors of long-ago down-low dealings, but you shouldn't pick your strip club based on its pristine reputation, right? Roxy's diverse group of dancers bring both charm and showmanship to the stage -- two qualities worth quite a lot more than singles when you compare the club to its less interesting neighbors. http://www.theroyale.com Why is the Royale everyone's favorite place to kick back? Could it be the comfy wooden booths or the St. Louis-themed cocktails? The hardback book menus or the framed pictures of cultural heroes like Abe Lincoln and JFK? The backyard patio with freestanding fireplace and koi pond, or the fans made of tires? Perhaps it's all of the above, complemented by local DJs spinning hits old and new. The Royale is unique, a place where those passionate about St. Louis gather to discuss policy and politics - and music and city living and maybe a little boxing, too - while sipping swank cocktails and eating good food. The burgers are excellent, none more so than the "Royale," a carnivore's delight of premium Wagyu beef from Down Under. Other standouts include smoked brisket tacos and a terrific roast-beef sandwich with garlic aioli. Several dishes made with locally produced Match Meat are available for vegetarians and vegans. So go ahead and meet your friends -- they're probably already here. Read more about this St. Louis bar or club >>
http://www.rue13stl.com Rue 13 is arguably the hottest spot on Washington Avenue, and it's easy to see why. Spacious and comfortable, and with as much room for lounging as dancing, the place has plenty of room to accommodate its throngs of loyal clubgoers. Besides pool tables and Megatouch, Rue 13 offers a fireplace lounge for movie viewing, a DJ booth for theme-night spinning and sushi for late-night sustenance. While it's best known for That 80s Club on Fridays, Rue 13 provides surefire entertainment all week long. Read more about this St. Louis bar or club >>
