  • Nick

    Nick's Irish Pub

6001 Manchester Ave. St. Louis, MO 63110
    314-781-7806

http://www.nickspub.info St. Louis might have more Irish pubs than shamrocks in a glen, but many of them aren't open after 1:30 a.m. That's what separates Nick's from the rest. It's a pub the way pubs are meant to be: cheap beer, cheap bar food and plenty of drunken fools banging mugs on the table to the beat of local musicians playing traditional Irish tunes late at night. Patrons can get a bite to eat at Nick's till midnight on Friday and Saturday. The full menu includes standard Irish pub food such as fish and chips and Shepard's pie. Wing fans have their work cut out for them with more than a dozen sauces to choose from and three different cooking styles. A big-screen TV lets the pub double as a cozy sports bar in the winter, and a large outdoor patio provides a comfortable spot in the summer. More >>

  • Novak

    Novak's Bar & Grill

4121 Manchester Ave. St. Louis, MO 63110
    314-531-3699

http://www.novaksbar.com Some say Novak's is a sister to Just John's -- and with its neighboring location and generous accommodations, we'd be hard-pressed to argue. Thanks to a more laid-back atmosphere, however, Novak's recalls a younger, hipper Cheers -- only a million times better because no one on Cheers was gay, and almost everyone here is. There's something for everyone at Novak's, be it washer tournaments when the weather is fine, bumping and grinding to DJs or ogling the sassy, magnificently plumaged drag queens that perform regularly. Straighties can occupy themselves at the bar playing Hot or Not with the soft-core imagery flashing on multiple TVs: boy, girl, girl in bathtub, boy-boy sandwich, beautiful alien Angelina Jolie. The space seems never-ending, with a large bar, roomy dance floor, an upstairs seating/game room and an outdoor patio that wends around the block. Novak's also features nightly entertainment, but with few consistent weekly events, it's important to check the calendar for karaoke (Novak Idol!), open-mic nights and drag shows. More >>
