  • NASCAR SpeedPark

    NASCAR SpeedPark

5555 St. Louis Mills Blvd. Hazelwood, MO 63042
    314-227-5600

http://www.nascarspeedpark.com Nascar Speedpark’s thematic focus is go-kart racing, but really, you should expect a borderline theme park experience. In addition to five go-kart tracks, the Speedpark offers mini golf, laser tag, rock climbing, bumper boats, a playground and dozens of smaller rides and arcade games. Events and birthday parties are a particular specialty: The birthday packages start around $15 per child and — subject to availability — feature an appearance by “Sparkie,” the Nascar Speedpark mascot. If you just drop in for a visit, expect to pay for individual rides. But the more cost-effective choice will probably be a daily unlimited wristband; purchase one at a slight discount online with day passes at $15-$20 or an unlimited monthly pass at $31.99. Of course, your level of fun may depend on the weather but even if the outdoor options are closed, you’re only missing out on golf, bumper boats and three of the go-kart tracks. More >>

    Norman K Probstein Golf Course

6141 Lagoon Drive St Louis, MO 63112
    314-367-1337

http://www.forestparkgc.com A storied past and central location alone would be enough to keep the Norman K. Probstein Golf Course crowded, but the flexibility and quality of the course’s 27 holes make it one of the top public links in the area. In operation since 1912 and in its current form since 2004, the “Courses at Forest Park” take duffers on a practical tour of the park, with stops near the Grand Basin, St. Louis Art Museum, Missouri History Museum and houses along Skinker and Lindell. The three nine-hole courses — Hawthorn, Dogwood and Redbud — are each par 35, and they’re all relatively flat, although five of the nine Dogwood holes incorporate water. Rates vary from a low of $18.00 for nine weekday walking holes, to a high of $46.50 for 18 weekend riding holes. Tee times can be booked online, but the course frequently hosts events so be sure to call ahead. More >>

  • Normandie Golf Club

    Normandie Golf Club

7605 St. Charles Rock Road St Louis, MO 63133
    314-862-4884

http://www.normandiegolf.com In many ways, Normandie Golf Club is a typical urban, public golf course. But if the blue-collar environs don’t bother you, Normandie is worth checking out. It’s located near I-170 just south of the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus, and nestled between no less than six cemeteries. Rolling hills, mature trees and reasonable greens fees are the most prominent feature of this par-71. Hours vary with the seasons, so be sure to call ahead or book online with the dynamic pricing reservation system. Normandie remains open year-round, which makes sense because the course itself has been around since 1901 — longer than any other golf course West of the Mississippi River. More >>

https://www.facebook.com/pages/North-Oaks-Bowl/148170788552978 With 64 lanes, fitting in a couple games of bowling at North Oaks Bowl shouldn't be a problem. But the area’s largest alley is also one of its busiest, and you can expect at least half of those lanes to be occupied even on a weekday afternoon, when most other alleys aren’t even open. Other than its absurd popularity, North Oaks is a pretty typical bowling alley. Shoe rental is $2.75 and game prices are $2.75, or $3.50 in the evening. There’s a wacky neon bowling pin mural above the lanes and some pretty low drop ceilings, as well as a simple bar and snack counter and coin-operated pool tables. Notable is a separate and recently updated bar and dart room, which also features “Soulful Ol’ School Sundays” with a DJ and drink specials on Sunday nights. More >>
